PonderedThought chronicles how I see God in my everyday experiences as a wife, as a mother, and simply as a daughter of Christ. My blog includes personal testimonies, inspirational devotionals, and pondered thoughts.
Pondered Thought
“But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.”
-Luke 2:19
I planned on mopping, prepping homeschool stuff, and folding some laundry. The first day back from a weekend like this, alone with the kids, is HARD. I don’t want to be rushing in the morning and feeling overwhelmed.
How can one of my most difficult labor and delivery experiences be positive?
Well, it is—not due to the absence of difficulty.
It’s positive due to the presence of the Lord.
His hand upon this birth was exceptionally evident.
Customarily, my daughter would run to me screaming and crying with all of her very big 4-year-old emotions. But this time, she ran past me… towards another couch.
Without pause and without dramatic emphasis, the Holy Spirit simply answered, “spend more alone time with your daughter.”
Life with three little ones is busy.
Life is full.
Life often feels messy.
And I feel overwhelmed...often.

What I didn't know then, and am just now beginning to understand now, is that my elders spoke of a family culture- one filled with standards, traditions, boundaries, and customs. Fast forward to now living in my 30s, married with 5 young kiddos. For a few years, I felt the Holy Spirit impress on me to consider carefully the culture my husband and I were cultivating within our home.
